FAQ:
Question:How dangerous are lithium ion batteries?
Answer:Although slightly lower in energy density, the lithium-ion system is safe, providing certain precautions are met when charging and discharging. Today, lithium-ion is one of the most successful and safe battery chemistries available. Two billion cells are produced every year.
Question: If my electric wheelchair (or other electronic device) uses NiMH or NiCd batteries can I use Lithium Ion batteries?
Answer: Normally you can not switch between a NiMH or NiCd battery and a lithium ion battery in a electric wheelchair. There are some devices specifically designed to use either type of battery, cell phones are the most common example. If you can use either type of battery, it should say so in the User's Manual.
